What size domes?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, just picked up another banshee, well, 2... One of them is a 4 mill with a dune port, he said he thinks it's 18cc domes(built the motor like 10 years ago) has 34mm keihin carbs, pro design coolhead,he ran a mix 50/50 110race fuel and 92 pump gas, we are wanting to run the bike on just pump gas, do we need to change up the dome size? Do we need to check compression in order to know if we need to change size? He said he's run it on straight pump gas before and that it seems to run fine just not as much power, thanks everyone, and a pic of the bikes for attention! The yellow is the 4 mill, blue bike is stock other than pipes and a boost bottle still has tors and all, it was his wife's bike. Also, what's the value on a set of blue fullbores in like brand new shape? They're flawlesse364748b30bd5b36c88576d570bc740a.jpg8c5094de6d26eaf75747ff0acfd1de6a.jpg

check compression.  depending on port timings that 18cc is pretty small compression is probably pretty high unless he was riding high elevation area.  You will need stroker domes cut.

if you loose power going from 100 down to 92, something is seriously wrong.   it should be the other way around.  you dont gain power with octane.  you build power that requires higher octane to keep from detonating the top end.  first thing is to see if there is a spacer plate under the cylinders (this guy sounds like its likely) or if it has relieved domes, which is proper "4mill dome" confuguration.  you will need to know this before buying domes.  im a bit rusty, but i recall 24cc domes to be fine for "pump gas"
