Larry's Shee Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 Is it worth, or can domes be re-cut? Old domes are 18cc (wtf?) Stock stroke. Never ran this engine. Thinking about going 4mil. Don't know if it makes any difference but I'm near Driveline. Haven't asked yet if they can/will do it. What exactly is involved in getting custom cut domes? Quote
Toybreaker Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 can it be done? Yes Is it worth it? Probably cheaper to get custom domes cut for your application. You need to dial in the existing dome to a gnats ass on axial and radial run out, and cut the squish. Most custom domes are cut on a CNC or prototrak lathe. much easier than dialing in existing used parts. Call and ask. I am a machinist by trade, I'd buy new ones. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 22, 2019 Author Report Posted April 22, 2019 Makes sense. Might be hard to re-set up in same lath on same day it was turned. Carpenter by trade, haven't fucked with a lath since H.S. metal shop, 50 yrs ago. So, what exactly is a costom cut done as oppesedto off the shelf? Quote
