BLUESTRIKE03 Posted June 4, 2017 Report Posted June 4, 2017 Okay guys, I'm a noobie to two-stoke atv engines. I have a friend's 1996 Banshee that I'm working on. They tried to put a twist throttle on it and couldn't get it to work. Then they re-install the stock thumb throttle on it and jacked it all up. The bike wouldn't idle and had no power when riding it. I did some research and found the plungers were swapped on the carbs when I was syncing them. I fixed that and adjusted the idle to OEM Spec. Idles and runs a lot better. but now it will runs good then suddenly the rpm's will take off uncontrollably and I have to stall it the to kill it to kill the engine. The Engine off switch would not kill it. The only thing I can think of is a crack in the intake boot or air leak after the carb, but I didn't see any. Oh, and yes unfortunately it does have the TORS system on it but wires are cut on them. Already recommended to the owner we put a TORS removal kit on it. Any ideas what it could be? Quote
Keno Posted June 5, 2017 Report Posted June 5, 2017 When it takes off it is a lean run away. When that happens, kill the ignition and open then throttle all the way. Do a leak down test to check for air leaks. Quote
BLUESTRIKE03 Posted June 5, 2017 Author Report Posted June 5, 2017 Okay, I'll try that. Thanks. I post my findings. Quote
