STLBILL Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Hi everyone: Has anyone ever thought of starting a privately-owned ATV park for use by the general public? The only one I know by name is the Badlands in Indiana but I've heard of a couple more. I am wondering if something like this could at least pay for itself and maybe turn a bit of a profit? I am thinking $3-$5 per day/ATV with discounts for annual memberships. Perhaps free-memberships for those interested in helping periodically with park maintenance. What would the ideal ATV park need? Features: Adult Motocross Track Junior Motorcross Track 660-foot Dirt/Sand Drag Area. Hillclimbs of varying degrees. Mud Bogs Rock Crawler / Obstacle Zone Trails Facilities: Staging area with ramps for easy (un)loading. Bathrooms (Are flush toilets necessary?) Change House ATV Wash area (high-pressure). Picnic area / Camping Wish List: Dealership / Parts Vendor On-Site / Mechanic Snack / Soda / Juice Vendor What do you think? What else? Thanks in advance, Bill Quote
Lanky Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Something like that would be a great idea. But it would cost more like 15-30 dollars per day. Quote
Wheatchex Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 1. Land 2. Tolerant neighbors 3. No Environmental impacts lest you become targeted by the greenies. 4. Liability Insurance 5. A comprehensive liability waiver for each person that sets foot in your park to sign. 6. A good Lawyer The big probs are going to be the tolerant neighbors, the finacials for the lawyers and insurance. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 i think it would be a sweet idea if it got off the ground cause im sure alot of people would be interested in going, but i also agree with wheatchex about lawyers and insurance Quote
chase73 Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 paragon park in PA is one its like 30 bucks a day Quote
. Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 yeah, and it sucks! It's cool if you've got a worked 4x4 truck. There's much better places to ride that are still free. Place we've been going just got shut down pretty good though 2 weeks ago because some kids decided to smash all the windows of the heavy equipment for the coal mining. It's alright, still other places to go. Tower City is a little less rocky to ride, but those private parks are getting so damn expensive nowadays. If you could get a camping area going, and a waiver that if anything happens you cant sue, bathrooms, and a powerwasher would be nice. Showers would also be really nice. Quote

STLBILL Posted December 7, 2003 Author Report Posted December 7, 2003 Hi D34: Two hours south must be real close to Saint Joe state park? Please let me know if you can find the name. I am pretty good at using computers and the 'Net. If you can get a name and it's on the 'Net I can probably do the rest. Regards, Bill Quote
