salmon_slayer06 Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 Its part number 15 in image. Its referred to as a cover. I broke one of the two screws off in the case and I want to leave it off instead of buggering up case. Anyone leave this off? http://www.macombpowersports.com/OEMpartfinder.htm#/Yamaha/BANSHEE_-_YFZ350W_-_1989/CRANKCASE/YFZ350W_%281989_ALL_TERRAIN_VEHICLE%29/CRANKCASE_%28YFZ350W_-_1989%29 Quote

lil Doobie420 Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 it slings oil on to the clutch basket i would use it. Quote
salmon_slayer06 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Report Posted October 14, 2015 I broke one of the screws off. Seeing it would be a pain to get the old one out I figure I could use just the one screw or just keep it off. I'm leaning towards keeping it off. Quote
J-Madd Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 If if you can't use that because the bolts are broken don't sweat it. Quote
sleeper06 Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 If you know someone that's good with a mig welder and I stress good I usually hit the tip of the bolt with small tak a few times and the bolt will come out with vise grips. The heat from the weld will break up rust and come out fairly easy Quote
registered user Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 it slings oil on to the clutch basket i would use it. not exactly. if you look closer it has 2 large chanells that divert oil back to the transmission compartment. directly above the mainshaft to be specific Quote
sheerider11 Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 I'd run it. I was told it was needed. Flowed oil back to the bushing on the basket. Quote
willaduncan Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 There are people that don't run them but it does help with channeling oil. Drill and tap the screw, same thing happened to me I believe that hole is an M5x.75 maybe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
salmon_slayer06 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Report Posted October 14, 2015 I loctite all the screws from last build. I forgot to heat the screw up and yeah. The other one was no problem. Thats what happens. Thanks for the info. I'll have to go get a new bit and tap for that. Hopefully center punching it and a good sharp bit will do the trick. Don't take much to bugger up aluminum.
