OC-SHEE Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 A cpl people told me i need to make a tool to remove the steering stem bearing. Does anyone have the specs? I wanna get my bike out for powder really soon and i need to remove it. It looks like if i get a nut big enough to fit and a bolt. Then weld them together and use a wrench to get it off. But if anyone knows please share. -JOE Quote
trigg Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 i got a 30mm nut and welded a socket to it then just used a ratchet to remove it easy jiff Quote
JKJK Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 same here.had a 1-1/8nut, welded it to a bolt.all you need is a bolt with a head of at least 1 1/8 with a double nut on it.so you have something to grab to spin it out. Quote
SURFRIDER53 Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Dont be a fool and buy the yamaha special tool. that thing is like 50 bucks and you can make one for less than 5 like JKJK says. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I sell a wrench that will lock onto a 3/8 socket drive. $14.00 - 10% = $12.60 and I pick up shipping. They are laser cut out of 3/16 plate. Give me a PM if interested Quote
BaddestBanshee Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Go to the hardware store, get a big as bolt. Then get a big as nut to fit the big ass bolt. Jam them together and the use it to remove the bearing nut. Quote
boonman Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Send me $5 to cover shipping and the cost of the bolt. i'll whip ya up a 3/4" bolt and nut that you can slide a 1 1/8" socket, or wrench over and remove that pesky little bastard of a holding device in there... Quote
