tfaith08 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Not necessarily. I was nit-picking. It may be a damn good port, but it's impossible to say without durations. Sent from over there. Quote
tfaith08 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) If you ever see a few sets of test cylinders from a good builder, you'll wonder how they ran at all. Sent from over there. Edited June 27, 2015 by tfaith08 Quote

BANSHEE HP Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 a leak down test couldnt hurt either, but figuring out whats going on the in motor for squish and compression is sumthing that you need to know. especailly after melting spark plugs Quote
jeff n Posted June 27, 2015 Author Report Posted June 27, 2015 What's a squish test? Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
jeff n Posted June 27, 2015 Author Report Posted June 27, 2015 What causes plugs to melt like that? Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
jeff n Posted June 27, 2015 Author Report Posted June 27, 2015 I'm trying to figure out if the work that was done was done wrong, if I did something wrong or just have really really bad luck. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
troyzstang Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 Was the motor fully assembled when returned from builder or did you reassemble the top end? Quote
jeff n Posted June 28, 2015 Author Report Posted June 28, 2015 It was fully assembled by the shop and was ridden by him before we loaded it up. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
jeff n Posted June 28, 2015 Author Report Posted June 28, 2015 Just to be clear. I had work done to 2 different bikes. Shee#1 is a 4 mil that I traded for, was only running on one cylender. Took it in said I need it fixed. I was told I needed a new top end, I said do it and port it while you are at it. It took almost 6 weeks! Picked it up tried to get through break in and melted the plug. Shee#2 I dropped off a perfectly good set of jugs from a good top end to be ported, instead they got ported and bored. So now I had to buy new pistons too. I assembled the top end and broke in with no problems. Runs like a champ. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
