Vitos 392 cub - holes in intake blocks on cylinders

Has anyone ever seen these little holes on top of the intake blocks on a vitos 392 cub cylinder? I just found out my compression was 122 in left cyl and 90 psi in right cyl. It was running lean I'm wondering if this could be why?? They don't seem to go all the way thru almost like it's a casting flaw but pissin me off regardless! I'm trying to find the tools to do a leak down test not sure where to get a pump and attachments to screw into,the spark plug hole.

Edit: the holes are normal.

The compression difference is not.

Do as suggested and leak test.

What? Just plug the exhaust with rubber pvc caps, spark plugs in the head, pvc pipe and cap with gauge and valve in intakes.

I have stock cylinders with those same holes and I bought new Athena cylinders with the exact same holes at least now I know its not just my cylinders either.

Its where the intake bolt would come out if it was too long.

 

Drill and tap them all the way through to save some weight!
