JCSO605 Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Has anyone ever tried using transparent paint on a clear hood? I am aiming for the clear smoke look. Quote
#1JUANstunna Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 10 parts clear to 1 part color. Usually works well. Quote
#1JUANstunna Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Disclaimer: I've only done this to taillights to smoke them. It works well for that. Quote
JCSO605 Posted April 10, 2015 Author Report Posted April 10, 2015 I will give it a try. Thank you Quote
#1JUANstunna Posted April 11, 2015 Report Posted April 11, 2015 I will give it a try. Thank you Find some plexiglass, mix a little and shoot it for a trial run. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 Look in to what guys are doing to RC hobby car bodies. Lots of them start off clear and wind up pretty bitchin' with some simple techniques. Quote
Glenyboy Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 Skeets right, paint it from the inside like an rx car. Is the the hood lexan? With tamiya paints you can get a metallic and they lay down transparent as they are then backed by another colour to add depth, and so you can change the tone Quote
Glenyboy Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 They also do a smoke colour that they use to give a rc car a tinted window look. Here's a vid for you Quote
JCSO605 Posted April 14, 2015 Author Report Posted April 14, 2015 Will do thanks for all the info. Quote
