Anyone have experience with HID lights

Recommended Posts

I found this HID light provider and looking to see if anyone else has had any luck with them. I run the stock stator and am looking for a better light setup for night riding. I found this site http://www.hidsrus.com/yamaha-banshee-yzf-350-hid-kit-hid-lights/. The fella i talked to on the phone said all I have to do is run a ballast. Whats your guys thoughts.

I am running HID right now. I have to run a 200W stator and a battery like the one atomic Monkey^^ pointed out. I love the light they put out. But if i was to do it all over again I would shit can the battery and HID. I would try LED and a small cap with a stock stator. just my $.02

I have both, HID's can and will throw farther than LED's when designed properly.  But LED's are typically a bit brighter than smaller less efficient HIDs.  Most HID's have a slow warm up time.  Some cheaper LED's will not be as efficient as HID's as well, due to crappy reflectors or lower binned LEDs, but it does seem LED's have caught up to HID for the most part.

I like my rigid 10" lightbar with driving beam pattern , only uses 50 watts and nice beam.

Unless you really need to save weight, get a good battery, it's nice to have the lights stay on when you kill your bike due to having to brake too quickly.

Just stumbled across these on ebay looking for some docking lights for my boat. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2PCS-4-7-25W-CREE-LED-Work-Light-Spot-Offroad-SUV-4x4-Boat-Jeep-ATV-Truck-OR/251914557608?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20141212152715%26meid%3Df8580559d0a8471e853692f373c2e14f%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D7%26rkt%3D14%26sd%3D271835225924 Direct knock off of the Vision X light cannons I have on my banshee. Looking at the base of the reflector, you can see some minor differences and I'm sure these don't come with Deustch connectors. But, if they're half decent copies they're probably the brightest lights you can buy for $129 if you can't afford/justify the real vision x units.
