Are you wanting to know how much you can shave off the head? Quote
fixitrod Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Oh, I see what your saying. What's the highest compression number the stock head gasket can handle. dlnoss will be the man to answer that. There are a lot of people that have different opinions, but he makes head Quote
dlnoss Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 I don't really know how much compression a stock head gasket will take. All of my experience is with orings. ScottM, Patriot Racing and some others on the site mill stock heads and would have a better answer. Sorry to pass the buck. Quote
GSXR 1000 Posted November 25, 2003 Author Report Posted November 25, 2003 Thanks for the relplys just trying to keep it looking stock but still would like to know Quote
mofuger.1 Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Just port and polish the motor and get rid of the factory pipes, sync the carbs, change reeds and add spacer, add hinson clutch plates and basket and add a weisco piston for starters. Quote
boonman Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I have had safe dealings while on pump fuel at about 1000 feet of elevation with .030" off the head. Anything more off the head, and you risk having to switch to race fuel.. I am currently at 195 lbs of compression on the stock head and domes. I blew a head gasket once due to a faulty torque wrench. I have not had a problem since... Quote
