. Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Alright, I threw my cylinders on last night and when I went to put the base gaskets on, theres a softer side (top I presume) and a under side thats smoother feeling I believe. When I went to put them on, the one went one side up, and the other the other side up. Did I get 2 of the same side gaskets in my kit by accident or is o.k. to run one the one way and the other one the other way? I'm pretty sure I dont have to run sealant of any kind with them right? Also gasket surface on the case theres indentations that look to be where the coolant would run? The gaskets block them off? Do RZ gaskets have the holes in the gaskets for the coolant to go into the top case a little bit? Quote
BenBB Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 They should be OK they way you described: one facing up and the other down, without any sealant on 'em. You might make sure the rubber plugs are in place in the cylinders, that's where the coolant passage ends (same on my RZ, I'm fairly certain, anyway the coolant doesn't go into the top case at all on either one). The indentations in the top case are just part of the casting, what's most important is the sealing surface around the perimeter of the cylinder hole. Quote
. Posted November 22, 2003 Author Report Posted November 22, 2003 sweet, thats the way I have them. I was pretty sure it was o.k. Just wanted to make sure before I get it all completely back together tomorrow and start it up. Oh boy I cant wait......its been since the beginning of september....wayyyy to long. At least now I'll have a second set of cylinders that I'll be getting setup so when I blow this top end.....I can be up and running in a few hours. What I'd like to eventually do is have another whole engine ready to go, kind of a plug and play type thing. Know anyone thats got a good bottom end? Quote
BenBB Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Yeah...Lucy Liu has a nice one, heh Seriously, I may have a Banshee motor soon (read that: sometime in the next few months), if it works out I'll let ya know. From what I can tell the topend is shot but the rest should be OK, I'm just after the rolling chassis for my RZ... Quote
. Posted November 22, 2003 Author Report Posted November 22, 2003 ha ha....she does she does. Keep me in mind, I'm gonna be keeping my eye out on ebay and everywhere for one. Dont want to spend a lot for it, but if everythings good I gotta weigh my options. Even if the cranks bad, It could be the engine I build to be a stroker. Quote
