So I picked up an 01 "black edition" (I guess) from a buddy of mine for a smokin deal.  It needs a little work, but I'm sure I'll have less in to it than it's worth once I'm done.

List of mods are:

Herr Jugs 4-mil 421cc motor

34mm carbs

in frame drag pipes

huge PIAA healights

ITP cast wheels (i think?)

Hole shots

+2 axle

and probably a lot of other stuff that I can't identify just yet.  I haven't been around offroad vehicles in a long time, so I don't know exactly what I have.

It needs a stator, top-end rebuild, and a bottom end refresh (for my own peace of mind) and it should be fun.

First question is, what is a better than stock stator out there?  I have seen Ricky Stator fail right out of the box.

Thanks!

The quad is currently in pieces and will be left that way until I figure out everything I have.  I'll probably take it back to herr jugs since he did most, if not all of the work to begin with.

I would imagine that the OEM stator is the way to go, however I thought there might be a similar or better alternative.  No big deal.

OEM is the best. There has NOT been a single manufacturer to provide something better then what those little japs could put together.

You can try a race tech, they are new and a few have had quirks. However they actually stand behind their products and make sure your sorted out if there is an issue.

Yep.  I live out in Kern County in a little shit town called California City.  Plenty of riding out here!  Plus, it's really close to Willow Springs International Raceway for me to run my race car, too.

Out of curiosity, what could I potentially sell this thing for if I decide not to keep it?

I literally have $150 and the cost of a rebuild in to it right now.  I don't think I'll have time for the quad AND my racecar.

If there are plenty of places to ride, I don't see how it's a shit town...lol

I got $700 + shipping for all the parts. Just put on a greyhound bus to me.

hahaha.  I know I can get a little bit more than that for a running cub build.
