Is there any disadvantage of running Av gas in a shee with about 160psi of compression besides the price? What do you think about Av gas vs race gas?

Ive run Av gas for the last 5+ years. I have #225 compression in each cyl w/ my timing at +4 to +6. Ive had NO problems what so ever. It burns clean and to me it seems a little easier to dial in (jetting) Its half the cost of race gas and gives you the same performance.

Your going to get 100 people telling you not to and another 100 people telling you its fine. If someone tells you their bike grenaded from running AV gas... then they didnt have it jetted correctly, or it was on its way out to begin with.

My suggesting... Try it. Just check your jetting.

been running it in my 250Rs about as long as Walt has in his Banshee. 0 problems and in my bikes at least, there is no performance difference compared to race gas. The extra money in my pocket is nice too.

I run VP-C12. I don't like Aviation fuel. And I will not get into this debate when it heats up, I am just saying my peace. lol  My feeling is that fuel is designed for different things. RON #'s is what most aviation fuel is rated on, it is designed for an aviation motor, and that is not what I want. I want a fuel that is designed for the purpose I am going to be using it for. Chemistry my dear Watson.

Av Gas doesn't have the lubricating properties that regular gas or race gas does. I've ran it in my shee & didn't have any problems...but I didn't get any gain in performance either, so since I get just as good of performance from 91oct, I'll stick with it. We run Av in all of our stroker VW's in the rails, but throw in a bit of Marvel's Mystery oil to lube it up a bit, never had any problems.
