Atomic Monkey Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 I just marked out my case to gasket match to the cylinders. Do you think there's enough material left to make a good seal if I open it up to the line? Looks questionable to me. Quote
BANSHEE HP Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 yes, cub cylinders leave about that much sealing area aswell Quote
Dixie normus Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 For the gains involved, I'd rather have it stock. $.02 Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 what jugs are going on itStock ported cylinders. Pics of the cylinders are in a thread I made about porting them. The jugs are almost the size of the scribed lines on the case already. There won't be much material removed from them except for some shaping in the front of the primary transfer. Figured the way to do it would be to grind the case, mount the jugs and scribe them from inside the case, then grind the jugs. Quote
BANSHEE HP Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Use your gasket. Match the gasket to your cylinders then lay the gasket on the cases and match it. Scribing the cylinder to cases is fine just might be easier doing it with the gasket Quote
BANSHEE HP Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 And as you already know it gets thin in the corners. I've seen someone mess up and over port the transfers so the sealing areas don't even line up, had to epoxy up the cases down the side sealing areas Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 I would use the gasket to mark the cylinders, but it moves around too much. I know its going to be more of a pain to mark them on the case, but they don't move when seated on the dowels. Seemed the best way to get it all to match up. Quote
dirtydownunder Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Get some dowels on the cylinder or something the same size to use as a spigot Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 I'll have to double check the thickness around the transfer area in the case to see if I can remove all that material. Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted July 17, 2014 Author Report Posted July 17, 2014 Thanks for bringing up how thin it gets! I checked it out and if I were to bring it out to the line on the stator side, it would probably pop through. There is plenty of material everywhere else, so maybe I can get some weld in there just to beef it up. Quote
