a while since I've Been on here, but I'm finally finding the time to get my bike together! Anyway it's set up to run alcohol. I'm having trouble finding where to buy it. Not sure if this is a stupid question or not(I tried looking it up) the answer I got is yes, but I want to be sure, can I run "methonal" that one can buy from a hardware store such as Home Depot? Also I know u mix it with the special oil, but what do u mix it at?

I'm more then happy to read any info myself if someone could guid me to any previous post on the subject, but searches have been coming up empty.

I'm hoping to have this thing together and ready to fire by Sunday, any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

What are some name brands I could ask for besides vp? (To expensive)

Is methanol, not methonal? 100% methanol from the hardware store is not the same thing? I know buying it one litre or quart containers isn't cheap, but all I need is a litter to here this this fire up on Sunday. Chances r good I'm going to sell it anyway. (Too bizzy to even enjoy it these days) been months since I even looked at it. But really want to get it together this weekend, as I put away the time to do so.

Also the one place close to me that deals in vp fuels, won't even order it in! Refused? Said something about transporting it?

What about this, after running alcohol one needs to clean it out and run gas thought the motor, all I want to do is fire this notch this weekend when I get it together. I have some 118 octain race gas kicking around, can I just use this to fire it up?

I purge with Reg. 89 oct. pump gas..  118 isn't needed.

But if I could use pure methoal from the homedepot and actually take it for a test run that sure would be much more enjoyable!! It has been a long time in the making. I'm sure some could relate.

Ok so reg gas to purge, and how long do u run it? Can u rev it at all?

But I really would like to still know if methanol is methanol? If the stuff they sell at home dept can be mixed and ran? As it is just so easy to grab a cpl. Litters so I can run it this weekend when it's finally put together.

No....go ahead an rush into using a fuel you know nothing about. You don't know anything about tuning it or reading plugs......not even sure where to buy it or what it actually is......

 

By all means, run to a big box store and dump coin on triggering your next rebuild. FFS
