First thing to do is make sure carbs are spotless, set float level, and make sure all vent tubes are open. Did you get a real good look at reeds? Then do a plug chop or good plug read. If you don't have a lot of experience tuning, only change one thing at a time.

The lid change may actually require a 290 (or 300). Always better to error on the rich side as plugs are cheaper than pistons.

Don't recall anyone with stock carbs using anything other than stock needle. Changing could send you chasing your tail for some other tuning issue.

Thanks Larry, I bought a bunch of jets so I'll probably jump up to 290 with the air box lid to be safe to start. The carb rebuild kit came with a new needle but the old one looks ok and like you said i don't wanna chase my tail because of that.

I ride in mud, dirt, small creeks and sand and I run pods. Someone mentioned it, but it does clean up the bike a lot. If it was me I would run pods with outer wears. I also ran boysen reeds, stock pilot and 300 mains at 1.5 turns out on stock carbs with t5's. I would also recommend adjusting your air screw for the temp at which your riding at. That could possibly cause a bog on the low end. As far as the wet carbs and filter box, I would check your float level and make sure everything is cleaned and with new solid tip plugs. Also on my new setup I run stock carbs with an aftermarket needle from a dynajet kit. Seems to work fine.

Reeds look good, have them out now. Found a little water on the face of the case where the reed sits. Think that could be my water/high rev issue. Put a light coat of flexible sealer ( not the intense shit) on the reed and boot to help seal them. I already got the power lid, got a screamin deal on a brand new one (75$) stayed with the 280's , used the moose needle ( middle clip) that came with carb kit as well, gonna try it as is and tune from there.
