wayne_smith97 Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 I have bought three CDI boxes. Put them on my banshee and they are not allowing it to fire. Took them to a buddy of mine and they don't fire on his either. Is there something in my wiring that could be frying them? I have a new stator and pickup coil. Also a new ignition coil. Key switch and kill switch test good. I also have checked harness for continuity and all looks good. Any thoughts???? Quote
wayne_smith97 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 Sitting in the shop. Some help here please! Quote
wayne_smith97 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 Yeah pickup gap is about .017 and plug caps I'm not sure about so I will pick up a new set. I do know the coil came off a running bike Quote
Vicstuff Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Grounds good? Bare metal at coil/frame? Try a ground strap to motor/frame? Quote
sugarshack81 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 I bought some ngk plugs for my banshee and they tested at 16000ohms. Wayne you should check how much voltage you have from your stator. Use a multimeter to test voltage on green wire coming from your stator. I doubt your frying your cdi somehow. Did your friend let you try his cdi on your bike. I hope you get it fixed I'm in the same boat im just not getting spark to transfer to my ignition coil. My cdi does give out a signal on the orange wire just not when the harness is connected. Good luck I will let you know if I get my bike running and what i did, do the same for me if you get yours going. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Quote
Banshee SE Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) Haven't you replaced the rectifer? try another one. Edited April 1, 2014 by Banshee SE Quote
Starwriter Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 There is no rectifier on a Banshee. Only a voltage regulator. That only regulates the voltage for the lights. Has nothing to do with the ignition system. Quote

wayne_smith97 Posted April 6, 2014 Author Report Posted April 6, 2014 Bhatch21 brought his 95 over here and we hooked his Cdi up and BAM the beast fired up on the first kick!!!!!!! Now to find another Cdi box. This will be number four!!!!!!!!! Three bad cdi's. Hard to believe but it's true. They have been hooked up to bhatch's banshee. At least I know what the problem is now though Quote
