I got some what i'm assuming are aftermarket needles for stock carbs... They have no i.d numbers on them, but are longer than the stock 5N7 needles... They have 6 clip positions instead of 5, and are blunt on the top end instead of rounded... They came in a set of carbs a friend gave me... I installed them and they really cleaned up the mid-range cruising stutter I was having... Has anyone seen these type of needles before, and who makes a needle like this? dyno-jet, toomey, vitos?

yes.  most those companies have that type of needle with minor mods its a necessity.  the toomeys dont have anything on them for sure..

Mid-range cruising stutter?

I have a set of Toomey needles but run the needles that came in the Moose Racing Carb Rebuild Kit.

I run my 02 as modded per my sig and she has absolutely no issues.

It is meticulously tuned and synced, so maybe that helps keep it running great.

She revs cleanly throughtout the entire powerband and pulls hard from a dig and rev's out cleanly.

I cruise it around the dunes and lug the fcuk out of it and she has no issues.

I always worry about fouling the plugs too.

Maybe that's why I have to replace my plugs once in a 3 day weekend.

What should I be looking for in case this studder starts happening to me since I just bragged how well my bike runs...?

I bought the moose carb rebuild kit ages ago as well, honestly I was t very impressed, I think I just used the idle screws a/f mix screw and the gasket. I used the stock mikuni needle and bought new genuine mikuni jets. The moose jets didn't look very impressive but than again it was 2 years ago

The problem I was having was cruising just under the powerband... It would stutter slightly before the powerband... But, it only did it cruising at 1/4 throttle trying to stay off the pipe.. If i was drag racing and did WOT pulls I never noticed it... I found out they are Toomey needles, and they did what they claimed to do... The mid-range stutter is gone, and it feels crisper everywhere..
