Banshee304 Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 What's up my name is joe I'm pretty new to this site. I'm currently running a 397 ported stock cyclender 4mil motor, stock carbs bored to 27.5 , vforce 3 reeds , 7 degree timing advance , toomey t5s, dirt digger clutch and stock gearing. After a hole summer of getting this set up running the way I want it to I wipe the clutch out and all the bushing in the clutch basket giving me play between the basket and the gear. This being said I did some online shopping and got a good deal on complete Hinson clutch assembly, vitos ball bearing lock up clutch and 34mm tmx carbs. Now I'm thinking of buying shearer Inframe small bore set up. I do 50% woods/trail riding & hill climbing and 50% drag racing with friends and family . Anybody have personal experience running shearer pipes in the woods? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Finch Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 depends on portwork. some say topend only pipe but my last set of 4 mil stockers would of worked killer in the trails Quote

Young Guns Racing Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 Depends on port work? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Yes, port timing amongst other factors control where your powerband comes in so porting has a lot to do with it. My 4 mil stock cylinder aggresive dune port would do great in the woods. Its got some good bottom end but it really shines on top - there again, its what I had it setup for. If you know who built it they would be the best one to answer your question. Just a little info. Both dmc and paul turner mids are known to be great woods pipes. I ran PT high revs in the woods once and they worked decently, here again they're tuned to come in moreso on top end. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 The right 4 mil will pull through the woods with shearers. If you are doing some wide open riding get the shearers and let it breathe. Use compression and timing to keep some low end. Quote
