RK Tek Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Patriot.. EXACTLY!!!!... custom tailored ANYTHING will perform better and add reliability whether it be porting or combustion chambers. The fact remains... if you have the engine custom built .. it WILL make morepower and be MORE reliable!! It does seem strange that people will call around asking for a "trail", "dune" race", "mild race" port job but then they "Skimp" on the power making process ..COMBUSTION!! They are probably MORE custom chamber configurations then there are port layouts! Kelsey Quote
NorthWisBanshee Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Hi everyone, is there a way or formula to figure out the octane requirement of a given engine. Say you have X #of cc's, or bore, porting layout, pipe, and dome size, and yes deck height. Does the octane requirement change with port timing? Or is it the deck height. Can you figure compression ratio on a two stroke like you would on a four stroke; but start your cylinder volume at the place where the ports are closed and then add the dome volume. Or can you figure it out by the PSI reading you get from a compression gauge. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Sorry one last thing, when domes are custom cut, are all you doing is changing the compression? Quote
