silverado7308 Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 OK so a guy wants to trade me his compleatly stock banshee for my Chevy mud truck. Only problem is he said the bike needs top end rebuilt. He said he's getting a set of pistons and cylinders from a guy that bought them new and only started the bike then something went wrong in bottom end so hrs parting out. Hes supposed to bring the bike and parts to my house friday so I guess my question is what should I check for to make sure that's all that's wrong with the bike? He said the new pistons and jugs are 64.5?? Does this require an oversize gasket kit? Any and all help or feedback is greatly appreciated. My truck is worth 2500 am I getting ripped of. O yea the bike is an 05 Quote
silverado7308 Posted November 3, 2013 Author Report Posted November 3, 2013 He already has top end pulled off. Quote
dave5.0 Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Unless its got a bunch of high end parts on it it ain't worth 2500. I just bought a stock running bike with a few good parts on it for a grand. That was dirt cheap, but it runs. Unless dude is planning to throw cash in I'd prob pass. Post some pics of both of them. That'll help us. Quote
silverado7308 Posted November 3, 2013 Author Report Posted November 3, 2013 He said the bike has Toomey t 5s and a twist throttle are the only things it has done to it. I'm not sure how to post pics Quote
silverado7308 Posted November 3, 2013 Author Report Posted November 3, 2013 And where I live most banshees go for around 2 to 3 grand Quote
dave5.0 Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Ya they usually do here too. But ones in pieces don't. There's a nice very clean one for sale on here for 2200 with pipes and tires I think. Should be able to pick up a decent running bike for 2500. With a buncha goodies on it. Quote
silverado7308 Posted November 3, 2013 Author Report Posted November 3, 2013 OK well what should I look for as far as checking the bottom end and such. I haven't ran this truck in over a year and its been for sale and most I got offered was 1500. Quote
rjdgriff Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 YOU ARE GETTING FUCKED!!! DONT DO IT!!!!!!!! Quote
rjdgriff Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Take the 1500 his bike not running is worth$500-$1000 depending on arms and shocks I would bet Quote
RagunCajun Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 sell truck out right to someone, use that money and more money to buy a good running bike. Quote
silverado7308 Posted November 3, 2013 Author Report Posted November 3, 2013 He only sent one pic of the bike and it looks pretty nice how do I post pics on here? I'm on my cell phone Quote
Tech AS Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Nah bro don't do it. From the sounds of it, that bike will have more issues than its worth. Winter is coming up. People will be selling running shees for cheap for Christmas money. U should be able to find a running one for a grand or so if u diligently keep a look out. Quote
03DMshee Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 You might get your trucks value spent up in just getting the motor going...and who knows how good the top end he bought is...so you will basicly trade your truck for a motor...then till you replace all the maintenance items (bushings/bearings etc) your gonna have a 3500 basicly stock bike...3500 will by you a hell of a nice bike on here..... sprinklerman Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 How many people have to say its a bad deal or dont do it before you get the point.? Its not worth 500.00 in pieces. Quote
