Ok guys bought a new multimeter. checked stator ignition coil 17.1 ohms. pickup coil 111.2 ohms. Terminal to terminal on coil i got 0.4ohms. i didnt know how to check secondary on the coil. What next???

I gey good readings for the pick up and ignition side of the stator, but when i check the lighting side black and yellow wires i get no ohm reading whatsoever. Does this definately make iy bad. My thinking is yes because the cdi and coil pull some electricity. Right??

Im having erractic spark issues with my 89 after it sat for two years. Im down to a cdi possibly being bad. Have you tried to swap out yours yet?

Exactly hella expensive for one. My buddy's banshee lost spark randomly & the cause was the key switch failed, water or somthing got into that.if you have a key switch might want to cut out. Also somtimes wires around cdi box in the back seem to get rubbed together & cause a short. Check all that out as well.

Ohm the stator to ground as well. I have seen the coils pass the ohm test, but also have continuity to ground (shouldn't)... Make sure it is unplugged to do this, cause if you have a faulty switch somewhere, it could trick you into thinking you need a new stator.

I metered it black to yellow and then yellow to frame. Is this what you mean? I assumed that since the black wire has a ground terminal on it.
