charlie__walsh Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 I just fixed my carbs they were really messed ... I have tors removed I have all connections and setting in carb correct ... I'm wondering if there's a certain way to adjust your idle ... My choke just floods engine...and dies... Quote
Strm Trpr Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 do you have idle screws installed? What's your elevation, jets and mods? I use a cheapo ebay digital tach to set my idle around 1450-1550 rpm. A carb sync tool from FAST to sync the carbs. Quote
charlie__walsh Posted September 27, 2013 Author Report Posted September 27, 2013 Yes I have idle screws installed... It's all stock my pilot is at 2 turn... The mains are stock...And my needle is on the third notch... Would the needle setting effect it? I put it all to stock the needle was on 4... Quote
oldskool Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Well the choke is suppose to slow air and pull more fuel. After bike starts warming up, don't use choke. To adjust idle, back your screws out so they are not touching slides. when you lift slides with throttle, you should be able to release and both slides give you a clank when they hit bottom of carb. If they do not, then you need some slack in cable. After your sure cable is adjusted properly start adjusting idle with screws Quote
charlie__walsh Posted September 27, 2013 Author Report Posted September 27, 2013 Perfect ! I'll try that ... Quote
Coupelx Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 The choke adds fuel from the bowls to richen the mixture. It does not affect the air and for it to work properly you need to not touch the throttle. Quote
Strm Trpr Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 Make sure the tube between the carbs is there as well. That tube connects the right carb to the left carb's choke. Quote
