Hey guys i got some mikuni carbs on (cant remember size but i know they aftermarket and kinda smaller then stock ones with K&N filters) but the mechanic thats working on it says the carbs are gonna give out soon so im early shopping for some. My question is what size do you recommend where i can get a good port and have it running hard for a decent price (not expensive/not gonna be dragging just riding fast)

yes i agree carbs dont give out there are no moving parts in them like a transmission or something the cables might get worn and streched but thats about it. take it else where for work because that is not who you want working on your stuff

carbs don't have moving parts?  So the floats, slide and needle aren't moving parts?  DAMN we've been thinking of this ALL wrong then.....hahahahaha.

BUT very true.....find a new mechanic.....as the only part ive ever seen with wear was a slide or a bent needle from someone forcing it into the carb body.  The odds you will wear a carb out is little to none.....more towards the none.

Lol thanks fellas i figured there was nothing wrong with them this guy just fixes bikes CHEAP so i wanted to run it by here before i wasted any money on some carbs.. The guy i bought it from did some work on the jets any idea what upgrade i could get my moneys worth besides porting? Im doing a trail bike but wouldnt mind it being fast incase i hit the streets another time...

pipes, decent carbs, air filters for the decent sized carbs, advance the timing to +4, and throw a cool head with smaller domes on there to up the compression.  All bolt ons that are pretty decently cheap that will net you a good kick in the butt from what your used to knowing.
