Top End Reassembly...What are these?

I recently rebuilt the top end and after I took off the head and cylinders I noticed these on the garage.  They aren't the dowels for the head studs because I ordered all 4 new for those and the old ones were still on the studs.  These don't even fit over the head bolts.  Any clue?  I checked all the microfiche and manuals and only thing close is the 4 dowels.

Here are the replacement dowels I bought...the ends are tapered

Those look like the dowels for the gas tank

keep in the back of your mind that those are the gas tank dowels.......as no matter what...you still have to pick up those damn things off the floor....
