USMC53 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Hi guys, my 04 had a ring break in the left cylinder so I've pulled the the cylinders, then noticed play in the connecting rods. Good excuses to do a 4mil! I do a lot of "free" riding at my local atv park, trails here and theres and hit the drag strip once in a while. I've purchased the 4 mil, its a short rod but I got a good deal on it. Now for the pistons, cylinders and heads. I have to get the cylinders bored due to scarring, I'm thinking 65.50 mm on stock sleaves with a 4 mil port is this a good set up for my riding style? or should I consider 795 pistons or other options? (I refuse to run spacer plate) This is my first time doing this so any and all input is very appreciated. Also I want to run on pump gas. Quote
J-Madd Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 If you've got a 110 mm rod you don't need the 795 pistons. You have to have the head cut or domes for the extra stroke though. Quote

J-Madd Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 If you mean ignition timing, it won't change. If you mean port timing, it has to be changed to accommodate the piston going 2 mm further up, and 2 mm further down. Quote

bluebanshee98 Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 ^ true but going to a 10mil will be a bigger difference and you wont get bored as fast imo. not hating on the 4 mils but if i had to do it over again i would go 10mil and after market cylinder. its all about $ though. the more power you want the more $ its gonna cost Quote
