banshee#44 Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 ok so im installing the kicker gear and when i put it on i check to see if its moving properly and it just doesnt want to return back to the original groove. can someone explain why its doing this? Quote
J-Madd Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Make sure the spring is sprung (rotate it clockwise before install) and it and the plastic piece and the metal piece that stops against the case are in the correct location. If you're trying this with the cover off it won't work. The cover holds the plastic piece in to keep the gear frim coming out too far. Sorry for my vagues description of parts. Haven't looked at that in a while. Quote

banshee#44 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Report Posted August 2, 2013 Yea I figured that out haha . I still have the wierd almost grinding noise though and I noticed it goes away when I pull the clutch lever in . Could it just be clutch chatter noise from maybe not putting all the metal plates in the exact spot ? Quote

banshee#44 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Report Posted August 2, 2013 Ill get a video up of the noise. I just want to definite make sure it's clutch chatter because it can get pretty loud at different moments . And yes the plates are fairly new . Quote
locogato11283 Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Does it go away when you pull in the clutch? Quote

Jereme6655 Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 wait wait wait......First thing is to tighten those caps back up. You don't want to CAUSE an air leak and melt a piston. You said in your OP that you decided to do some maintenance and then it started acting up. Check that your carb slides are in the correct carbs as you can put them in the opposite carb and they will line up backwards.....remember....half moon cut out on the slides should face the rear of the bike. ALSO.....you say you have a k&n filter.......and you said you cleaned it......that brings me some concern as you say after the maintenance is when it started fighting you. You may have (as many people tend to do) oiled your filter too much, which is restricting air (which could be why loosening your caps and CAUSING an air leak seemed to make it want to run better. Reclean your filter and then put a LIGHT coat of the filter oil on it....... Quote
