tdod101 Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Need some help on steering adjustments, if I put the handle bars straight the front tires look straight but it drives to the left pretty significantly, what would cause this ? Tie rod out of whack ? Also if you look at it from the front of the bike the left tire points in while the right one is straight as an arrow. Quote
tdod101 Posted June 23, 2013 Author Report Posted June 23, 2013 adjust the tie rod Thank you, I forgot to mention they're J arms, I'm assuming it doesn't make a difference Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 I strap my handle bars and measure in a X pattern to the back so they stay perfectly straight. Then bungee cord a cheap laser level to the outside of the rear tire pointing forward. From there, set the toe to parallel to the rear, then in a little. just can't ever seem to eyeball that stuff. possum Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 um. nobody measures front to back of tires to set toe anymore? Quote
toytech Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 um. nobody measures front to back of tires to set toe anymore? that would be to easy. I put mine on the alignment rack at work. Quote
fappy'97 Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 um. nobody measures front to back of tires to set toe anymore? This is what I do, as well. My concrete floor has lots of Sharpie marks on it from setting toe and camber. Quote
04zSpittinKlotz Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Ffs, undo the tie rods, straighten the bars, and measure either from the inside lip of the rims or center of tire tread(depending the type of tires) you should end up with 1/4" less in the front. Toe set! P.s. keep checking measurements and bars several times. Quote
04zSpittinKlotz Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 im actually with ya possum, heres the link girls http://www.lsracing.com/img/Guide_21.pdf Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 um. nobody measures front to back of tires to set toe anymore? I do, after I get a baseline from the rear tires, to be sure they are pointing straight forward. Quote
tdod101 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 If the rod is bent can I just put it in the vice and try to straighten it ? Or get a new one ? I haven't done anything yet so I haven't been able to look at it Quote
