CDUBYA Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Well i know this has been discussed a million times but i can't seem to figure out what i have done. Removed TORS and replaced with the removal kit, tapped new idle screws in and everything went well. Put new K&N filters in, deleted parking break and put the block off plate on, snipped all wires from the Tors system and brake system. Tried to start, no go. So i held throttle all the way open and she starts up great, was trying to warm it up so i could adjust the ldle on it, the tops of the new carbs seemed to be screwed in to far, as the bike would not run at all when letting off the throttle. So i shut it off and tried to adjust the carb top screws, after i messed with that i could never get the bike to fire again. Tried to remove everything and put it back together, adjust the carb tops, idle screws, checked plugs, etc. I cannot figure out what is going wrong now. Am i missing something? any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. Quote
CDUBYA Posted May 14, 2013 Author Report Posted May 14, 2013 BTW Hi! i have been lurking on the forum for quite some time! It has provided me great help with a lot of things, i have not posted yet until today though! So i hope this is ok. Quote
BUILDER Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Sounds like to me you put your slides in backwards. If you look at your carbs from the rear are the flat part of the slides facing you are the rounded side? The rounded part of the slide should face the air filters Quote
t8kinover Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 I beleave the tops of the carbs should be tight too. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2 Quote
CDUBYA Posted May 14, 2013 Author Report Posted May 14, 2013 I'll check the slides out. I thought they were in correct but i may have overlooked this. Thanks Quote
toytech Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 did you unplug the tors box up by the left front of the gas tank? Quote
CDUBYA Posted May 14, 2013 Author Report Posted May 14, 2013 Yes i did that as well. It is just weird becuase i had it running it just wouldn't hold an idle. Then all the sudden it wouldn't start at all after i messed with the carb top nuts. i dunno. Quote
CDUBYA Posted May 15, 2013 Author Report Posted May 15, 2013 Well slides were in right, i have no idea what i have done. I cut all the wires from the plugs, for example, the black tors box has been disconnectedm the thumb throttle cable was disconnected and the wires were snipped and heat shrunk, as well as the plugs from the actual TORS on top of the carbs, they have been disconnected and cut. Anything i am missing? Quote
BUILDER Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Do you have the choke tube on between the carbs? If you forgot that it will not run either. If you pulled all the electrical and just drilled the carbs and put them back on right it has got to be something you missed. CZheck the choke tube and go over all the electrical again and make damn sure everything is unplugged. Make sure the wires you cut and put heat shrink on are not touching each other. If they are touching inside the shrink tubing that could cause your issue also. Quote
CDUBYA Posted May 15, 2013 Author Report Posted May 15, 2013 Will do, this is driving me nuts! Thanks for the suggestions. Quote
troyzstang Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Did you sync the carbs ? Make sure there closing completely . You can watch and hear them to get them close . Had an issue with my bike not wanting to start. Simple fix for me was adjusting the throttle cable so the slides would fully close. Stupid shit will get you every time Good luck Troy Quote
coryv4 Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 did you cut the red/black key wires on accident? Quote
CDUBYA Posted May 21, 2013 Author Report Posted May 21, 2013 Can anyone tell me exactly which and how many wires there are to cut with regards to the parking brake delete mod and TORS removal? Thanks Quote
oldskool Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Your not going to use adjustment screws on top of carbs for setting idle like you did with the tors. You could have slides picked up like troystang is saying. With engine not running, twist throttle and release or push thumb throttle and release quickly. You should hear the slides clank when they hit bottom of carb. If they don't turn adjustment screws on top until they do. Then you sync carbs with same screws. set idle with new screws installed on side of carbs Quote
