sprinklerman Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 I like running a lockup so that i don't have to run heavy springs. Makes shifting easier to me anyhow. I run 6 stockers right now (with extra lockup weight) and you can just flick the lever with 1 finger to clutch it. Plus you gain some extra fluid capacity which sure cant hurt. Quote
barahonapr Posted April 22, 2013 Author Report Posted April 22, 2013 so with me having heavy springs already..should i leave it as is or get one? Quote
sprinklerman Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 so with me having heavy springs already..should i leave it as is or get one? Itll work just fine with the HD springs you have. Its just more of a convenience thing to be able to run easier springs instead of the HD ones. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 It will work ok with the HD springs. However.... It will take little to no weight to work with those springs and it will lock up faster and way harsher and almost cause a bog situation till you dial it in. If you spend the money on the lock up, get some lighter springs. The lock ups do two things. Keep the power to the ground by eliminating wheel and clutch slip(except when wanted), and make riding easier with lighter springs. I get flamed for it, but I reccomend a lock up on any bike. They aren't just for big motors. You can put them on trail motors and ride effortlessly. Mine is almost comparable to the 450's Quote

barahonapr Posted April 23, 2013 Author Report Posted April 23, 2013 alright thanks for the replies guys i think i got what im looking for now. Quote
rjdgriff Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 I was under the impression that if you had a stock tranny that a lockup would make it much harder to run through the gears under load??? Quote
notsed Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 i run the sling shot on my serval, ez pull clutch and stock springs and it fits under a stock cover, its so easy to pull Quote

Slingshots are awesome on a budget and mean you don't have to buy a new cover. They are also pretty easy to get close and just ride. Quote
barahonapr Posted April 24, 2013 Author Report Posted April 24, 2013 great thanks guys for all the input! Quote
GleasmJA Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 sorry to high jack.... who are some sling shot makers?? Quote
trickedcarbine Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Gigot or driveline. Driveline also makes the Vito's one I think. Quote
ATVridinMaNiAc Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 I see the gigot deal on ebay for like 300, so it looks like that replaces your oem pressure plate? Also i assume if you have a lockup clutch cover it will still work with this but its not necessary? Quote
