banshee#44 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Alright guys I took the clutch side cover off and everything looks great although what I did notice is my shift shaft had about 1/4 inch of play back and forth . When it's pulled out away from the bike . I can shift the bike into gears . When it's pushed in it will not shift into any gear . Can someone explain to me what has happened and how to fix it ? Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 It will pull out until the lever on the left side hits the stator cover. A white plastic bushing spaces it when pushed in. The clutch cover has a nud on it to hold it in. check to see if the pawl has slop on the pivot. Quote

hoppedupandcutdown Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Take a straight edge across the case and that spot surrounded by weld on the shaft and see if it pushes in from there, it should not. that will be where it operates. Quote

banshee#44 Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 Ok it did push in farther than it should . So what's your opinion on why it would be doing that? Do you think it's an issue that's going to require splitting the cases ? Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 The white bushing holds it from going in. the shaft just goes from the right side to the left side and touches nothing in between. pull the clutch basket and it will slide clear out. No case splitting. check the pawl for excessive slop. Quote

sheerider11 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Is that locking tab on the eccentric screw bolt folded down?? I can't do the arrows, but the screw with the slot for a screw driver. There's a nut to lock it down, then a tab to fold over to hold it tight. Quote
