stevo3176 Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Well I got an old banshee really cheap. All it needs is a rebuild and a bunch of odds and ends. Now before I start the engine had been sitting for quite a while. I could tell because inside the cylinders there were cob webs and dust. When I pulled of the cylinders to get a look at the crank I could see that some dust and crap had gotten in by the crank and had stuck because of the oily mix. I cleaned up the dust that I could but I can still see some brown stuff down at the bottom. The cranks spins well and the rods have no up and down play. What should I do about the funk at the bottom there isn't alot but I know it should be clean. Can I put some mixed fuel in there and turn over the engine to wash it out or maybe some shots of WD40? And what can I use to wash out the water jackets to get the cob webs out? Quote
Holyman Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I used carb cleaner and some premix oil. Slosh it around a few times and swab it out with some high quality paper towels. Quote
