Fastassbanshee96 Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 Getting into the drag scene... Building a 485 cheetah on alky. Just wondering what is a good pipe to run on this motor? Clutch? Override? Any help would be great. This is my first drag build so I'm new to all this stuff. Quote

Nightmare Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 Shearer pipes, (Cpi's are good too), 2-5 over ride, wheelie bar, struts. Paddles of course. Where you racing at? Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk 2 Quote
Fastassbanshee96 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Report Posted February 2, 2013 Big bore or small bore? Planning on going to silver lake, Phil's.... Anywhere I can find to race. Who does a good override? Quote
Nightmare Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 Typically small bore but really depends on how your motor is set up. There's a few guys here with 421's running big bore. Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk 2 Quote
Nightmare Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 My tranny was cut by wrc but it was hell dealing with him. A few of the site sponsors cut them with great results. Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk 2 Quote
Fastassbanshee96 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Report Posted February 2, 2013 Yeah I think I'm going to have wild card set the motor up and probably cut the trans and shit. I've got a guy that said he would sell me a set out shear bb pipes for 350. There in ok shape but have been patched. Do you think that's a good deal. Also will bb pipes fit in stock drag cut frame? 1 Quote

Anywhere I can find to race. Who does a good override? It sounds like you are from MI. First thing I would do is ask help from your MI. brother's like dajogejr or Wheelman. There are more that would gladly help. As for the clutch, the lock-up/lockout tuning thread in the drag section is a good place to start. The mimimum I would start with is a FAST racing clutch kit, Direct Drive lock-up or equivalent, aftermarket clutch basket and new oem inner hub and pressure plate. That's just a few major things covered, there's really more to it. Quote

WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 Do you own a 485 cheetah yet? Quote
Fastassbanshee96 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Report Posted February 2, 2013 Do you own a 485 cheetah yet? Yeah I already have it. Bought it in pieces. Still need a few more parts to finish the motor. Why what's up? Quote
springer Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 re pipes ftw!!! and, i'll sum up what windycityjohn is about to say. "sell it, it is shitty. buy a blaster and go fast." Quote

What are these re pipes you talk about? I've never heard of them. Yeah I got it for a good deal so I'll run the motor for now and get used to things then go bigger and better. Got to work my way up to the blaster. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 If wild card is setting it up I would ask him what pipes would work best with the dome design it has and the port work done to them... I have always had good luck with wcr trannys... Go with 39 pwks or 40mm lectrons, fast clutch, billet basket, stock pressure plate and hub, direct drive lock up. This isn't cfhs old motor is it?
