banlee Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 ok so this is my first engine tear down. and i was putting the top bolts back on and it breaks. and so did the next one... and i wasn't even close to as tight as they need to be. so much so that when the cases were split again i could unscrew the broken part with my fingers... what the hell is going on? i think i put to much liquid gasket on if that has anything to do with it... what is the best way to put that stuff on? gappa38 Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 well after the bolt breaks in half both pieces will be loose again because the tension is gone, but it only takes a thin bead of sealer maybe 1/8 in wide, thats what i used and still squeezed out of the sides Quote
