bansheeboie Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 This is a 4mil crank that I got wen I opened up a motor today, bearings are tight, no play in rods, just some bluing on the crank rod by needle bearings from coolant leak on that side. Wud u run it or have it rebuilt?? Quote
Wildcardracing Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 I wouldn't recommend running it. Heat discoloration on a rod points to extreme heat from friction. That bearing and/or rod will fail, most likely sooner than later. -Brandon Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? WUD U? Quote
10milbansheerider98 Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 I'd rebild the whole thing with new rings n bearings... I'd recommend to refresh with new pistons for longer life.. longer ride, worryfree. Quote
possum Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 imo i wouldnt run it. but as we all should know many people on hq would say run it as is. and that is normal wear. haha Quote

BigRed350x Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 I wouldn't run it. Blue like that means it got pretty damn hot. Send it off to Kevin @ HJR and he can rebuild it for you with some new rods. Give him a call, he has really fast turnaround time! -Jared Quote
possum Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 cranks rebuilds are a month even from kevin. i just asked him last week. Quote
Wildcardracing Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Damn Wangers have Hotrods in short supply most everywhere. Pretty sure I could turn it around in less than a month though -B Quote
bansheeboie Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 thanks for the info fellas, im goin to send it out to brandon at wildcard. quoted me a awesome price. goin to send it out this week. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 whoever pulled that crank out was a lucky sumbitch... that rod bearing is on its way out.. maybe out through the cases.. but a perfect candidate for a rebuild.. Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 I told him the same shit in the shoutbox before he posted this thread. JoshZ said it was perfectly fine and that he'd run it... Word to the wise: Don't buy used parts from that guy, I guess. Quote
