Ronnie Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 My grips are shot and I seen a nice pair of gels on eBay. How do you get them on? My brother used dish soap on one of his dirt bikes to get his on but it didn't seem to work so well. Also should I take a piece of sand paper and smooth the bars? They seem rough under the grips. What tricks do you guys know to get them on the right way? Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 My grips are shot and I seen a nice pair of gels on eBay. How do you get them on? What tricks do you guys know to get them on the right way? Plain old tan masking tape wrapped "the wrong way" with the sticky side OUT. Once you have it wrapped, a quick spray with dish soap and water to lube everything up. Slide the grips on, and spin them in the same direction you wound the tape so you don't unwind it, until you get them in the position you want. The tape will help absorb the soap and water, and once it dries, they'll be stuck on there. Quote
jsinar Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Or you can get some of these: http://www.odigrips.com/roguepwclock-ongrips130mm.aspx I just got a pair, I haven't rode with them yet, but I don't think they'll come off.. Quote
Vicstuff Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Never tried the making tape but sounds like it would work lol. I use friction tape (hockey stick tape) wrapped about 3 or so times around and usually slightly larger on the end of the bar spray it down with brake parts cleaner slide grips on straighten out once brake clean evaporates stuck. Personally I like the pro taper pillow tops or the old school oury's if you can find some Quote
sheerider11 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Just blast some compressed air under them. They float right off. Same way to get them on. I used everything, from hair spray to spray paint. The best I found to use as glue, clear nail polish. A strip straight down the bars every third way around, slide them on, and they'll be good. Spray brake clean underneath to get them off. Quote
