Hello...any info would be appreciated. This is the second time the left side has blew a piston. Even tho its been some months from the first time, I don't think this should be happening. As u can see it looks white and pretty dry. I have dune port from hjr, shaved head, timing plate and t5s. I was running 340 jets in it, kevin said I was running to rich cause my spark plugs were black and wet. So I dropped to a 330. Oh yeah forgot to mention I was having a very bad bog that's what lead me to jetting issue...anyway so I decided to go to a 310 jet and soon as I rode for five minutes, I could hear the piston shatter. Has anyone seen something like this and if so did u figure out what the problem was.?? Thank you

Well I tried to send pic but file was to big. In the mean time please help if u can with the info I gave while I figure out how to send the pics. Thanks

Did you lean it out too much? Were they wiseco or cast pistons and did you hear any piston slap before hand? Id give kevin a call.

Not sure. They were wiseco pistons. Are the cast pistons stronger? And no didn't hear any piston slap before hand. Heard exactly when it happened. Soon as I put the 310 in.

No, Cast are weaker you gotta get in there and get some pics up for us to accurately tell you what happened.

Did you do a leak down test or check for air leaks when the BOG first started? Your jetting doesnt sound that lean but if your carbs werent clean through all the passages then you would have a lean condition no matter what jets were in it. And a good leak down test is a must when dealing with a lean situation.

That's the top of the piston inside the cylinder...looks nothing like the right side. Right side looks nice and brown

Left side a lil whiter than the right. But not by much. In my kn pod filter I do have a slight small whole in the filter where it was rubbing against a screw. Could that lil hole cause it to lean that much of a difference.?? Also should my spark plugs be completely dry..?? Thanks

looks like deto to me, what do you have the timing set at? how much is shaved off the head? what fuel are you running?

Yeah my spark plugs were backing there way out of the cylinders...which I heard or read that was called by detonation. Not really sure what causes that or how to stop it. I'm +4 timing, head milled equal to 21 domes and running 93

Piston Skirt shatter usually means clearance issues. Just had the same thing happen to me.

I'm sure more members will share there opinions as well.

Good luck.

Oh and did you flush or do the entire tear down after the first piston let go. Just curious.
