360CICJ Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 Found an 87 j-arm, it's complete but it's taken apart. The motor is still together and ran when it was taken apart. The guy bought brand new +2 j arms for it that are chrome and it has fmf pipes. He wants 500 for it, should I get it, put it together and sell whole, or just part it out? Or should I not even bother with it? Quote
joey83 Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 I would jump on it, especially if motor is good. Quote
360CICJ Posted August 17, 2012 Author Report Posted August 17, 2012 Yeah the motor is good, I just don't know how much to expect from a part-out. I just want to make enough to rebuild my brute force. Quote
troyzstang Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 Swipe it up and run like hell. Or you can tell us where it is and we can handle it. Quote
360CICJ Posted August 17, 2012 Author Report Posted August 17, 2012 Might fix it and give it to my wife for Christmas Quote
BUILDER Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 A 87 bike in peices for 500.00 is actually a really fair price. If it has a ton of aftermarket goodies on it then it is a steal but if it is mostly stock stuff then that is just a decent price. Stock parts are not really selling that well and if you were to put it together and took any consideration of your time for doing that then even if you could sell it for 2,000 you really are not making that much of a profit on it. If it was simply bolt it together with no parts to buy at all then it would make you a good profit. I would say buy it clean itup really nice and give it to the wife. Quote
360CICJ Posted August 17, 2012 Author Report Posted August 17, 2012 It's actually a friend of mines, it does need tie rod ends because I already borrowed them for my 98, other than that everything is there, he took it apart to do a frame swap and already has another frame and new j-arms, so I guess it would be worth it. joey83 Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 Part the Brute Force and build a Banshee! jk If the motor is good you can recover your $500 and then some just on it I would think. Or build it for your wife and keep it. I can't wait for my son to get big enough to buy stuff for "him" Quote
