kenny007 Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 I finally got my first banshee my first atv as a matter of fact I'll put up a pic tomorrow. It has a problem the right hand pipe doesn't get hot, barely any exhaust comes out, and what looks like fuel begins to drip out. Does anyone have an idea whats going on? Quote
kenny007 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 Very little compression but then it begins to pop and then stops. Do you think it might be a stuck float valve? Quote
Phelps Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 no i think it might be a stuck ring. time for a topend Quote
kenny007 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 That really sucks. I do hear like a fast knocking sound. When I take off it slightly putters but then it takes off and it feels like it's making good power. Quote
ClayAiken Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Compression it will make more compression while the motor is turning fast enough therefore making the right cylinder fire. Quote
kenny007 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 So is every one basically agreeing it's a stuck ring and if so how hard is it to rebuild the top end? My knowledge doesn't really go beyond tune ups and disk brakes. Quote
kenny007 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 Put plugs in it yet? The spark plugs are new. Quote
dave5.0 Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 The spark plugs are new. Compression test yet? Quote
kenny007 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 The guy who sold it to me said it was 120 each side. If I test it myself will that tell me if it's a stuck ring? Quote
BrockMoto Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 The guy who sold it to me said it was 120 each side. If I test it myself will that tell me if it's a stuck ring? it will tell you if you need to rebuild or not Quote
dave5.0 Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Wont tell u if it's a stuck ring but it'll tell u if u have compression. If it doesn't have compression doesn't matter what's wrong with it. Still has to come apart. You could always try some engine restore from autozone first. Quote
kenny007 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 I really appreciate your help guys. I even bought carb rebuild kits hoping it was that. How hard is it to rebuild the top end? Quote
