dima470 Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 Hello all, i have a question. I usually go riding to sand mountain nevada. If I change the rear sprocket to one with 5 more teeth, will it increase the power? Does that make sense? Quote
toytech Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 you will gain low end power, but loose top speed Quote
RadarRacing Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 5 teeth on the rear is a huge jump lower. Usually 2 teeth on rear is like 1 tooth on the front. 5 is much lower gearing. Quote

Does that make sense? you will not gain any power. what you are doing is making your gearing shorter where the engine wont have to work as hard. increase acceleration, decrease top end speed. Quote
old put-put Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 I thought it was 1 to 3 ....front to back x2 it is closer to 1-3. Quote
