Jraz Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 I'm doing my first shee build and have been fighting this Ada head. I rings are in place but still leaks. Any suggestions? Quote
sheerider11 Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Are your cylinders level? Is one of the o rings pinched? Any gouges in cylinders or head? Quote
Nightmare Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 I'll bet its the head. I had the same problem with an Ada head Quote
FullThrottle_06' Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 X2 on it being the head. It may be warped just a tad if it is used. You never know who ran it before you. I would run a straight edge across it. Front to back, left to right. Quote
frog Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 I also had a problem sealing this ADA head. I bought mine off ebay. I even tried buying all new new seals. The only way they sealed was with a little silicone. Just send back the head and get your money back and buy a noss head or a pro design and forget about any problems.. Quote
Jraz Posted July 2, 2012 Author Report Posted July 2, 2012 Yeah bought it off eBay from Ada. Brand new. Quote
mopar1rules Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 I have a pro design head and have been fighting a leak problem myself. It likes to leak out of the head studs. New o-rings don't fix it either. IMO the head design is the problem. The head shell should be 1 piece instead of 2 pieces and it should use a stock head gasket instead if o-rings, so the bastard doesn't leak. I fixed the problem by throwing away the pro-design.......I mean poor-design head and machining a stock head and using that. A friend of mine tested between a stock head and pro-design head and the pro-design only dropped coolant temp by 2deg. Not enough to justify any benefit. I understand your head is a Ada head and mine is a pro-design, but I would remedy the situation with the use of a stock machined head. Quote

I can't return it because it's been over 14 days since I received it. So I hoping to get it resolved because I'm almost tapped out from the build. Started from scratch. Quote
5150banshee Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 I'd contact the seller and let them know maybe they will work with u and try and get it resolved Quote
sheerider11 Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 I've never heard of these heads. I'd contact the people you got it from and raise hell Quote

If you paid via Paypal you can open a disput and he will have to refund your money or come to some sort of resolution. And trust me he will try to fix the problem as paypal will remove the money from his account and keep it in trust unti'll the disput is solved. If you use paypal the ball is in your court. You have 30 days so Giddy-up. Quote

You have 30 days so Giddy-up. It's been over 30 dys. I contacted them and explained that it was leaking and that I checked level and straight edges them and still leaking. They said even if the cyls are out a ten thousandth of an inch it would leak. Wtf. For real? Quote
Paulie B Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 You sure it's not warped? You could maybe lap it flat. Quote
thomas h. Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 If you run Toyota red coolant if has a sealants that is actavated when it gets cold air on it Quote
J-Madd Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Is it leaking into the cylinder, or out of the top of the head? Where exactly is the leak? If its getting into the cylinder, you can resurface it by running it over fine sand paper laid over a piece of marble or glass. If its leaking around the studs, just put some yamabond on the studs.
