slowpoke36382 Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 I need to replace my clutch and I read in the Clymer's manual that you need to replace the clutch basket and primary drive gear as a set. What exactly does that mean? Would I be fine just ordering both oem parts online and they match up? Also, when you get an aftermarket basket how do you attach the gear, can you just use the old one? edgehanger Posted June 11, 2012 Report Posted June 11, 2012 You can get an aftermarket basket and it should come with fasteners. From my understanding you have to grind the fastners off the oem basket and use the fasteners that came with the after market to attach it to the new basket. Quote

Hit the 4 rivets with a die grinder, punch them out and take the gear off. Make sure it comes with new bushings and backing plate. Best bet is to at least do the pressure plate and pancake bearing. slowpoke36382 Posted June 11, 2012 Author Report Posted June 11, 2012 is there somewhere you can just order the gear by itself to attach it to the aftermarket basket though? Quote
