chase73 Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 just trying to get a feel for these pistons before I use them thanks Quote
4strokesblow Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I put pro x pisotns in my shee. I loved them. I mean it was the only top end i put in it. But how many engines have you heard about that use wiseco pistons that run for 5 yrs at a time on a single top end? probably not as many as there are running on a cast piston like stock or pro-x. The guy at the shop that bored my cylinders and shit says he wont put anything but a prox piston into a banshee. Quote
THX-1138 Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I run Pro-X pistons in my Banshee and my CR250R. Quote
banshee370 Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 chase: Sorry to hear about your mishap up in Maine... Hopefully I can get mine back together for at least 1 ride next month. I'm shooting for Oct 26th if thats possible. As for pistons. The only drawback that I see w/ the cast (Nik's) is the short service life. Cast pistons when run for long periods (years) will tend to come apart. A very bad thing. They become brittle. I used to run the cast pistons and after a long talk w/ my motor builder about them, I switched back to Wiseco, and I havent looked back. Good luck getting your shee back together. Quote
BdBanshee Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 I have run both cast and forged, each for multiple seasons. Never had any piston related problems yet. The set in my Banshee right now have been in 4 1/2 years (Wiseco) and it is finally time for a top end job. Quote
