06BCBANSHEE Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Hey guys Figured you guys could answer my question, I'm about to order a -1.5 JL swingarm. I ride mostly trails, but looking to go to the track as well. Anyone know if a -1.5 will work with 20" tires with the AC nerf bars, with the built in heel guards. I would prefer to have a -1.5 over a -1, but if it means I can't run 20" tires with my nerf bars then I'll get -1. Still waiting on my PayPal to be approved so I have a cpl days to figure out what would be best Any input or help would be appreciated, thanks guys!! Quote
Infamous039 Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I would recommend measure the distance from your heel gaurd to you tires now while it is sitting on level ground. Then see how close it will be if you brought the tire in 1.5" Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I run a -1 Swingarm with 20" rears and AC Propeg Nerfs. It gets to be tight when rear suspension is fully compressed. Go do it up!!! Quote
06BCBANSHEE Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 Hey savage420 so you think -1.5 would still be ok? Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Hey savage420 so you think -1.5 would still be ok? Check with DDQ. He runs JL's -1.5, and he also runs nerfs. Also, that -1.5 is an awesome size. -1 isn't quite enough, but in some cases -2 is too much. He did great with the -1.5... Quote
06BCBANSHEE Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 Are you happy with the -1 or do you wish you went shorter? Quote
06BCBANSHEE Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 Yea I asked DDQ he isnt sure. I was planning on doing the -1.5. Well if they rub I'll just have to run 18" or grind off the heel guards lol. I think I would regret not doin the -1.5 . First world problems lol Quote

Whatever you need to cut, grind, or remove will be well worth it with that arm. Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Are you happy with the -1 or do you wish you went shorter? I personally wouldn't run any shorter then I run on my bike for the variety of terrain I ride around here. Sometimes it gets real hairy on the give it all steep technical climbs. But for general rippin rippin around on, its perfect for me. I change from 18's to 20's out back depending on where I'm riding and its quite a bit different how the size of tires react. Quote
06BCBANSHEE Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 Ya I'll be doing the same, going from 18-20" tires. Theirs not much around here for Hill climbs. So it would be mostly back logging roads, trails, and mx. I really dunno what to do. I suppose I could do -1.25" lol. God damn it, someone decide for me lol, I clearly can't! Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 I'd just do the -1.5" from JL. DDQ loves his... Quote
zach45 Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Fuxking need bars are a pain... I run a -2 with dg alloy peg nerf bars and have room for 22" tires Quote

I run a -2 with dg alloy peg nerf bars and have room for 22" tires Not sure what your saying lol, I'm guessing nerf bars are a pain? Do the DG nerfs not have heel guards? I'll prob just cut the heal guards If they rub. Or buy new nerfs just got them powder coated Edited April 18, 2012 by 06BCBANSHEE Quote
zach45 Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Lol sorry, iPhone spell check blows.. My beefs do not have heel guards... I would chop them if it rubs... Quote
06BCBANSHEE Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 Lol sorry, iPhone spell check blows.. My beefs do not have heel guards... I would chop them if it rubs... Ya will do, gotta do what u gotta do. Hate the look of 20" anyways lol. I'll most likley be using the 18" more often anyhow I suppose. Since I'm not a fan of the huge rocky trails where 20" are needed. Hopefully hey don't need to be cut tho. Can't wait to try my new rear end. Gonna be like a new bike with the swingarms, axle, and elka elite with linkage Quote
