xuberantz
I ordered Trinity orings for my head because of an internal leak and now I'm trying to do some investigation as to what's done on this thing as I finally started tearing into it.. It has a Trinity Stage IV head (ugh I know), that uses orings and I got a big wtf when there was a copper gasket too???? big wtf The Trinity Dome says - 71M - 20cc - 12 deg The Piston is 68.92mm which I do know is larger then stock (not sure how large)... The Base gasket is metal for some reason? Not sure why but it's defiantly metal... The rest of the mods are - 35mm carbs with k&n pods, t5's, vforce 3 reeds, mattoon billet clutch cover/lockup clutch, billet impeller.. I've never ridden a completely stock banshee but it had some serious pull to it. Here are some pics I took today, any help about everything listed any insight would be greatly appreciated. I just want to get this thing back together correctly. Edited March 20, 2012 by xuberantz
Larry's Shee
Is that copper gasket about 2mm thick?
xuberantz
Is that copper gasket about 2mm thick? Probably so it's been squished down a bit
Larry's Shee
At TDC, do the pistons stick up about 2mil, at the edge?
xuberantz
At TDC, do the pistons stick up about 2mil, at the edge? Around the edge I'm pretty the pistons sit flush the top of the cylinders. there is porting in the jugs that I didn't mention also (not sure by who) Edited March 21, 2012 by xuberantz

Larry's Shee
How thick does the base gasket look? Never seen a head gasket used with cool head.
xuberantz
How thick does the base gasket look? Never seen a head gasket used with cool head. Probably about as thick as a quarter give or take... and the copper head gasket with the head has me baffled...
Larry's Shee
Just measured a quarter, about 2mil. Did you do a comp test before tearing it down? Is that head gasket solid or multi layer? Wonder if adding gasket was red neck deto fix?
xuberantz
Just measured a quarter, about 2mil. Did you do a comp test before tearing it down? Is that head gasket solid or multi layer? Wonder if adding gasket was red neck deto fix? Compression was 125 on both cylinders and the domes are 20cc and i'm at about 795ft elevation... I was getting coolant being pushed from the overflow while hard on the throttle even after a new cap. gasket is solid.
