without being there and knowledge of the install none of us will be able to help you. my suggestion is to take it apart and inspect your work. a tip for the future dont fully reassemble stuff untill you tested it. im assuming it has something to do with the spring. try pulling your shift shaft towards you, maybe your selector isnt touching the star pins.

Jesus, I've had a LOT of banshees over the years and built quite a few engines, and I've never had a shift star that didn't just fall off in my hand when I removed the screw.

mine has always been super loose too jared......never a problem. but the last set of cases i opened up i really had to work to get the damn shift star off the shaft......kinda threw me for a loop. i usually just use a flat head and wiggle it in carefully behind it and they pop.....this last one took a little more finesse though.

Yeah I was thinking it would pop off also......it was brand new and had some hard green residue around the inside edge of it and on the whole backside? Used quite a bit of crankin on the puller and it literally popped off......
