eldreder
So i recently did a rebuild on an 87 banshee, and i love it. However, when i was riding at silver lake last year i had a ball joint pop out of the lower arm and rolled it end over end, so clearly the ball joints are worn out. There's all sorts of play in the front suspension, and I need to fix it to make it safe, but i'm not sure what route to go. 1)Cheapest rout would probably be replacing everything with stock parts, but i'd like to go wider, and i dont think using stock parts is a good solution anyway. 2)I could also get new J arms made by Stellar which would require a lot of other parts 3) i could do an a arm conversion kit 4) i could get an a arm frame for a decent price from a local guy What would you guys do and why? andrew3160
Stick with the J Arns, they are unique. Call Tim at Stellar and have him build you the arms you want. He will sell you everything you need to upgrade to longer arms less a set of longer brake lines. I promise you won't be disappointed if you go this route. eldreder
That was the route I was planning on going, I just hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg
Larry's Shee
J arms and A arms are same price from Stellar (IIRC) so even if you wanted to go A arm unless you bought used it's still same money. He'll make what ever size you want. Works of art to be sure. Put bronze bushings in pivots a be good for a LONG time. Plus J arm frames are lighter=faster
Burt Reynolds
Only draw back to the j arms for me was the upper bushings go out pretty quick. heres s pic of my old dentons Edited February 10, 2012 by Burt Reynolds
Strm Trpr
You can get bronze j-arm bushings from Toomey Racing. 2nd to last item. http://www.toomey.com/html/chassis_parts1.htm
SNTBANSHEE
I run J Arms from Stellar and IMHO they are worth every penny. Fit and finish are great and they keep the bike original. I get a lot of comments on the J Arm setup as most people around here have not seen them before.

bansh_88
Are there any advantages of the Stellar j-arms over the stock banshee j-arms? Although the stock j-arms on my '88 are in great shape still, I was wondering if there would be any advantage to going with the Stellar units over the stock j-arms. Thanks. Strm Trpr
Ummm, wider is better... that's what she said. LOL No, seriously, you can get your Banshee front end up to +2" per side and even +1" forward making her bite harder in turns. I probably wouldn't buy new arms if my ball joints weren't worn out, but the ones on the stock arms aren't replaceable so i basically have to upgrade, and going wider is always nice for stability
