I picked up a set of used jugs and head and need to figure out head clearance. I have read about the squish test. How do I get a good start on how to figure out the thickness needed. The jugs are 69mm bore and the stock head has less of a ridge then my other stock head. So I would guess that it has been milled. The guy that I got this setup from does not know anything about the head as he never run it. The piston does come out of the cylinders when at tdc and hits the head. I am a newb at all this please send me in the right direction on how to go about this. Thanks

so do you have a 4mil crank? if so you need domes cut for a 4 mil. also would help if you have the cylinders ported for the 4mil as well..

So i used a dial indicator and the piston comes out of the jug on the edge .043". So if I aim for .05 head gasket thickness that should be a good start?
