HOMERTHECLOWN Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 First time in, a newbie, with a newbie question. Did some horse trading and ended up with a 91 Banshee. I will post some pics soon. I think its pretty cool but in no way compares to some of the Big Boy stuff i have seen here, yes, I have been lurking, its my dirty little secret. In a nutshell, Nitrous, Marvin Shaws I was told a 410cc motor (thats where the question is) amp link, plus 10" swing arm, lots of other stuff to. My question is about the engine, and I just want some feedback, The recipts show Alba racing in Poway built the motor, here is what went in it Pro X rod kit RD 400 rebuild & weld crank Weisco 573ps YFS 200 pistons porting ($500) boring 35mm air strk carbs fmf ram valve cool head pro design domes 18cc pro design intake piston coating ?? Hinson billet somthing, i assume basket Done about 12 years ago, What I like is the detail the guy put into the whole bike, has not been molested. The best part is I traded a built Rapter for it. I will use the bike to haul my fat ass up the hill at Glamis, and try to beat as many folks as I can. I am looking for a dyno in or near Temecula Ca., to have the bike tuned and get some HP numbers. I saw a suspension sponser here in my area, and I will be calling him to set up the Marvins for my weight and the Glamis whoops. 20 plus years ago I would race a built nitrous 250r and when I set up the suspension up it made all the difference in the world. Give me your thoughts on the motor, possible HP expectations the Marvins in the whoops (they look like the hill shooter, but remember this looks like an older build) and last, what do you think of the J arm frame, its all chrome so it looks okay, but I saw some nice a arm rollers for sale. Thanks Gents... Quote
zach45 Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 Bikes not a 91 if it's a j arm.. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 Bikes not a 91 if it's a j arm.. X2, 1990 was the last year for J arms. 1991 was the first year for A arms. Quote
HOMERTHECLOWN Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 Good catch, the hand written note on the envelope said 91 Banshee, closer inspection of the paperwork indicates its a 1990. Thank You Quote
BigRed350x Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 If its brand new to you, do a complete teardown and reassembly. See what its really got for guts. Ive had way to many surprises on new to me engines. Take a weekend and tear it down, clean it, and reassemble yourself. Sounds like you have a good start. Jared Quote

Jared Thank you for the reply Jared, I will probably not tear down yet as this thing runs way to good, and idles great as well. Up the street, its fast, scary fast. I will be in Glamis in a few weeks to see what it runs like up the hill. I know my post was a little long in the tooth, should be more specific, The engine set up, RD400 rod with YSF 200 pistons and 18cc domes. I will run 110 race gas. compared to stock what is the difference in rod length and piston diameter, and any idea on ROUGH hp numbers? Thank You Quote
Jereme6655 Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 id still suggest tearing it down....it'll take you less than a full weekend. just think....if you tear it down now and find a bad crank bearing your looking at a $40-60 fix (depending on the bearing you want to put back in) but if you dont tear it down and run it hard and its eats the bearing.....its not only gonna screw with your crank and cases....but if its spits that bearing up into the top end then its gonna do the "cha-cha im gonna stomp all over your shit" dance on your pistons and cylinders. So you would LITERALLY go from a $40 fix to a $1000 repair. Not worth it in my opinion. Just my opinion though... Quote
10milmike Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Hey bro I live in Temecula Near Pechanga. Not many good Dynos near US. Call Pat or Nate at Alba they still have a dyno. Or u can go to Rogor at wicked Motorsports kind of far from us but he is good at tuning. If u want a real good builder call Kevin at Herr juggs , he is off the 15 and Mira Mesa Blvd. Quote

We are trying to get a guys trip to Glamis the weekend of the 15th, possibly just a day trip not sure yet, I work at Paradise Chevrolet in Temecula, Service Manager. A few of the guys ride quads. If you want to tag along, you are more than welcome to. Where is Wicked located? Thanks for your input Mike Rick Quote
